Economic Impact Payments – “Stimulus Check” Update your bank account or mailing address

Apr 16, 2020 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.

Filers: Get Your Payment

Use the “Get My Payment” application to:

  • Check your payment status
  • Confirm your payment type: direct deposit or check
  • Enter your bank account information for direct deposit if we don’t have your direct deposit information and we haven’t sent your payment yet

Get My Payment

Update your bank account or mailing address

  • If we don’t have your direct deposit information from your 2018 or 2019 return – and we haven’t yet sent your payment – use the Get My Payment application to let us know where to send your direct deposit.
  • 2019 Filers: We will send your payment using the information you provided with your 2019 tax return. You will not be able to change it.
  • 2018 Filers: If you need to change your account information or mailing address, file your 2019 taxes electronically as soon as possible. That is the only way to let us know your new information.

I am a retiree and receiving SSS benefits. My wife and I are not required to file our taxes for 2018 and 2019.I applied online for the freefillableforms but it was rejected twice.Submission ID- 440896202011603742iv. Confirmation Code 257619. My wife Rosita Menor Funtila received her stimulus check ( $1,200 )already which was directly deposited in our savings account in her name at Woodforest NationalBank. Where is my stimulus payment?
My wife and I have no dependents.

Hoping for your immediate action on this matter. Thank you.

Amante, thanks for your post… I am not sure if you know that the stimulus check is given by the IRS and we have nothing to do with the process and the distribution except for giving you information and in some cases advice as how to react to the current challenges.. if you are US Citizen you will get the check sooner or later… you can check now your situation at : “Get My Payment” which the IRS has reported that is now functioning. Deadline for providing Direct Deposit information May 13th. Information for those receiving Social Security benefits.

I am not required to file 2018 2019 taxes because I don’t make more than the minimum required I accidentally entered the wrong mailing address when I filled out my stimulus application. The address I entered has no mailbox and no mail is received there. I had to use a mailing address because I didn’t have a bank account at that time, I do now. How can I either give the IRS a correct mailing address, or my banking info so that I will receive my payment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this has been the cause of much frustration and many headaches. Thank you.

Jesse, Try the “Get my payment” page to change the bank info and or the address… if that is not possible, I would recommend you to file a “Change of address” with the IRS (Form 8822). Antonio
